Arthur D. Wolk, age 91, of Green Lake, Wisconsin, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, with his family by his side. Art ("Don") was born on May 25, 1925, in Seymour, Wisconsin, the son of Arthur A. and Ida M. (Kropp) Wolk. He was united in marriage to Harriet J. Albert on July 22, 1950 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Seymour, Wisconsin.
Art served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Art also served in the Korean Conflict at Camp Pendleton, California. Art was a 70-year member of the American Legion, serving as Post Commander for Krause-Kraft Post 106 in Seymour, and then as a member of the Willis-Chapel Post 306 in Green Lake. He was honored to have traveled on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in September 2015.
Art was a member of the Green Lake Lions Club from 1966 to the present where he served as President. Art was awarded the prestigious Melvin Jones Award in 1997, an honor of which he was very proud. Art served as a board member for the Green Lake County Republican Party and served as a Green Lake Alderman for one term.
As a young man, Art really enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and loved to compete. Art enjoyed playing golf, bowling and following the Brewers and the Packers. Art had his first hole-in-one on his 80th birthday at hole #12 at Devil’s Head Golf Course. Earlier that year, he bowled a 299 game at the age of 79. Art spent his adult working life in retail sales, mainly in the grocery business and was the owner of Art's Park & Shop in Green Lake. He also served several years as a volunteer fireman in Seymour. For the last several years, he organized the Seymour High School Class of 1943 reunion luncheon.
Art is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Harriet; two daughters, Christine Wolk and Marie Wolk, of Green Lake; other nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Wolk.
A Memorial Service for Art will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Divine Passage Funeral Home in Ripon with full military honors following. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Inurnment will be held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour, Wisconsin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Post 306 American Legion Building Fund, P.O.
