Carleen A. Sormrud, age 73, died peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Autumn Winds of Oakland in Cambridge, WI after a brief illness with cancer.
Carleen was born on April 23, 1942 in Watertown, WI, the daughter of Ewald H. and Jeanette (Koeppler) Werth. She grew up in Oconomowoc, WI, attended St. Paul’s Lutheran grade school and graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1960. Carleen worked in the office of Yoder Motors for a few years. She married Wayne B. Sormrud on December 29, 1961. Their 18 year reunion was blessed with a daughter, Kristine in 1963 and a son, Kent in 1964. Carleen loved the Lord. She attended St. James Evangelical Church in Cambridge, WI.
She loved spending time with her family, coloring, writing letters, sitting on the porch looking at nature, listening to music, attending shows at Fireside and shopping.
Carleen is survived by her beloved friend and father of her children, Wayne Sormrud of Jefferson, WI; daughter, Kristine (Tom) Lowerre of Waikoloa, HI; son, Kent (Sharon) Sormrud of Fort Atkinson, WI; five grandchildren: Lisa, Stacey, Russell, Shad, and Jared; eight great- grandchildren; brother, Roger (Carole) Werth of Ixonia, WI; two nephews, Bobby and Kenny, niece, Julie; special cousin, Judy; and many other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Nancy; brother, Dale; and sister-in-law, Shirley.
Life Celebration for Carleen will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 12:00pm at St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Cambridge with Pastor Jeff Schallert officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will be held at Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Ixonia, WI.
