George W. Tetzlaff, age 77, of Green Lake, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan, WI. George was born on February 22, 1941 in Waupun, WI the son of William and Freida (Schumacher) Tetzlaff. He served his country in the US Navy from 1960-1964 during the Cuban Crisis and became a member of the Ripon VFW Post 5278. On June 18, 2005 he was united in marriage to Liann Lefeber at their home in Green Lake.
George was the custodian at the Ripon Middle School for over 25 years before retiring. While at the school, he loved the kids and had a good time joking around with them. He was an all-around handyman fixing anything he could. He would have helped anyone that asked. He loved woodworking, fishing, hunting, and trapping. Outdoors was the place to be with animals of all sorts. He loved his dogs and horses and just liked to putz around his hobby farm. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead with friends. He was a very down-to-earth man who loved life and had a good time making people laugh. If he teased you and gave you a hard time – he liked you.
George is survived by his wife, Liann; daughter, Cathy (Brad) Rost of Green Lake; son, Glenn (Kim) Tetzlaff of Green Lake; grandchildren: Krystal (Tony) Disterhaft of Berlin; Avery, Addison and Ellerie Rost all of Green Lake; brothers: Jack (Shirley) Tetzlaff of Brandon; Bill (Sue) Tetzlaff of Omro; sisters: Margie (Roger) Langeberg of Omro; Ida (Dennis) Ziegler of Ripon; Cindy (“Gator”) Broderick of Ripon; parents-in-law: Don (Christine) Lefeber of Fond du Lac; Patsy Lefeber of Fond du Lac; sisters-in-law: Lynn John of Appleton; Lauri Kounelis of Fond du Lac; Lois (Tom) Leu of Fond du Lac; Lisa (Jake) Liedke of St. Peter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Floyd “Fritz” Tetzlaff; sisters: Marion Lewis, Linda Tetzlaff and Nelda Tetzlaff.
