Howard “Howie” N. Dunsmoor

Howard “Howie” N. Dunsmoor, age 85, of Fairwater, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. Howie was born on April 6, 1929 in Markesan, WI the son of Fred and Verna (Henninger) Dunsmoor. He graduated from Markesan High School, Class of 1947. On June 2, 1951, he married the love of his life Marjorie Michalowski at St Brendon’s Catholic Church in Brandon, WI. He served his nation in the Navy from 1951-1955. Howie was a devoted member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon. He worked for Speed Queen in Ripon for 36 years. He was a Fireman in the Fairwater and Brandon/Fairwater Fire Department for 46 years and the Fire Chief for over 25 years. He was a member of the Brandon/ Fairwater American Legion Post 0378, Lions Club, Snowmobile Club and Little League Coach. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and was a spectator for his children’s and grandchildren’s sports events. He enjoyed watching Westerns, Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

 

Howard is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth (Cal) Schlieve of Waupun, Kathleen Dunsmoor of Baltimore, Md., Debra Hautamaki of Waupun and Susan (Joe) McCullough of Waupun; one son, Larry (Dorene) Dunsmoor of Fairwater; 13 grandchildren, Hannah, Lia and Brina Hautamaki; Joshua McCullough, Jessica (Chris) Braeger, Nickolas and Kaitlyn Dunsmoor, Erica (Paul) Loomans, Sara (Ryan) Groenewold, Adam (Toni), Curtis (Samantha), Andrew (Beth) and Emily (fiancée Geoff Alsma) Schlieve; 12 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Jacob, and Julia Loomans; Aiden and Aria Braeger; Reegan and Brady Groenewold; Evan, Hayven and Taylor Schlieve; Ava and Riley VandeZande; other relatives and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Erna Moderow, his loving wife Marjorie, brother Lynn Morris Dunsmoor, father-in-law Frank, mother-in-law Elizabeth, and five brothers-in-law.

 

Visitation for Howie will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 3-5PM at Divine Passage Funeral Home, 175 N Douglas Street in Ripon. A Rosary will be held at 5:00PM at the funeral home.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 Blossom Street in Ripon with Father Robert Fictum officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10:00am until the time of the services. Burial will be held in the Fairwater Cemetery.
