Wayne H. Thede, age 90, of Ripon, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with his family by his side.
Wayne was born on January 11, 1925 in Calhoun City, Iowa, the son of Albert and Laura (Sporleder) Thede. He served his country in the Navy from 1942-1946 during WWII and from 1950-1952 in Korea. He was united in marriage to Mary Verlasselt on February 16, 1946 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Wrightstown, WI. Mary preceded him in death on October 21, 2006.
Wayne was a devoted Catholic and member of St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon. He was a Barber for 30 years as well as a Grounds Keeper for 13 years, before retiring in 1989. Wayne volunteered often. He especially enjoyed volunteering at the Recycling Center in Arkansas before moving to Sturgeon Bay, WI. He enjoyed playing “Sheepshead” with his buddies until he lost his eyesight and was unable.
Wayne is survived by his daughter Barbara Wallin of Ripon; three grandchildren: Kathleen Timm, Kristine (Brett) Pershing, and Brittney (Cassy) Carlson-Bvosk; eight great grandchildren: David, Alex, Kayla and Leah Schablow, Delaney (Madilyn) Pershing, Talon Perkins, Gavin and Marley Finney; great great grandson: Daniel Schablow; one brother, Harold Thede; one sister, Darlene Williams, both of Iowa; other relative and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; daughter Josie, son Richard and great great grandson, Daniel Schablow.
Memorial Services for Wayne will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Blossom Street with Father Robert Fictum officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 9:30AM until the time of the services. Inurnment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
